Bernard Lee (“M” Dr. No through Moonraker) Lee died in January of 1981 before being able to film an appearance in For Your Eyes Only. Out of respect for Lee`s indelible stamp on the role of “M”, Albert Broccoli chose not to recast the role until the next film.
